The machine

Watch yours come out.

The donuts aren't delivered. Batter goes into the machine in the front window, rings drop into the oil, and they come out the other end into cinnamon sugar while you stand there. If you get one still hot, take it to the bench out front and eat it there. Don't wait.

The owner, Tony, has been making these donuts on Long Beach Island for decades — the machine in the window, the cinnamon sugar, the line out the door before eight. Summer regulars grab a season shirt on the way out.
